Hi Students! 👋 I'm so excited to meet you! I was raised in the United States of America, but now have lived in Sierra Leone Africa for more than 6 years. I love talking to students from around the world. I love connecting with my students, most of all I love finding out exactly what my students need and to be that for them. I have completed a TEFL/TESOL tutor certification and been teaching for almost four years. Because if my love of teaching I still live in Sierra Leone Africa.

During 30+ years I have got an extensive experience by working with kids as well as with teenagers and adults. One must say I prefer teenagers and adults. I have BA in philology, MA in pedagogy and a lot of courses attended in Latvia and abroad. Speaking, expressing the point of view and teaching grammar are my strongest points but as mentioned above I do everything necessary for the student.

Main attention - to the practical use and communication. However, the real improvement is only possible by grammatically correct speech and writing. These two approaches must be in balance.

I help my learners stay motivated by using positive psychology methods and elements in the learning process. The positive feedback based on evidence helps my learners track their progress, which helps them see their success and achievements. We set measurable, attainable, and inspiring goals and divide them into milestones. This helps my learners avoid the feeling of being overwhelmed and stay consistent and persistent.

I am a qualified Educator, and language learning has always been my passion. I know it sounds like a cliche, but the fact that I speak 5 languages explains a lot :)) My professional education consists of studies of pedagogy and psychology of learning. I know what languages learners are going through, not theoretically but practically! I know how to keep you motivated, inspired, and persistent in your learning journey.

I always listen to my students’ needs to make sure they reach their language goals as quickly as possible, and then I adapt my lessons by choosing appropriate materials and teaching style. I also make sure my students are interested in lessons and enjoy them, so I include engaging activities and topics relevant to their interests. During my lessons, I am always patient and positive, and I am ready to explain more complex concepts in different ways if they are difficult to grasp at first.

Sandra Leikarte

I believe that language learning should feel meaningful, enjoyable, and personal. I help my students stay motivated by creating a warm, supportive space where they feel safe to speak, make mistakes, and grow. Every lesson is built around their goals, interests, and real-life needs — whether it’s moving to a new country, preparing for an exam, or having a conversation with native speakers.
