I have lived in Latvia a number of years but have not managed to become fluent mainly due to working every day in English throughout my stay. I have 2 daughters who I only speak to in English (to help them to become Bi-lingual) and my Partner also speaks excellent English. I always try to speak Latvian when I'm out and about in Latvia although this can sometimes be difficult because people don't always understand my British accent and pronunciation. When this is combined by Latvian's love of learning languages it becomes really quite challenging to reach my language goals. But I am determined to improve and want to invest in improving my knowledge of Lativan culture and integrating during my time here, an ultimately so I understand my daughters Latvian heritage.
